We invite you to an inspiring journey through the Apothecary Garden with our Rose Alembic Day. Immerse yourself into the essence of the rose, deepen your connection to nature and your heart.

Richard Howard and Chloe Isidora, guide the sacred art of communing with the deva of the rose and crafting your own alembic rose hydrolat and botanical incense. 

The day begins with the rising sun going through the process of collection as the rose petals unfold. Through meditation opening yourself to be guided by the spirit of the Rose.

Experience the alchemy of the alembic process in making your own hydrolat. Witness the transformation of rose petals into a fragrant water, capturing the essence of the rose’s purity and magnetic beauty. 

Engage your senses in the art of incense crafting, blending fragrant botanicals to create a celebration of natures gifts.

Enjoy a Rose tea ritual grounding yourself in an embodiment practice, dancing with the beauty and wisdom of the rose. 

We look forward to welcoming you to a day of connection, creation and celebration. With nature, your heart and the Rose.

You will leave with a your own Rose Hydrolat, botanical incense and new friends.

What is an ‘alembic still?’

Alembic stills are powered by heat and water to produce steam in a controlled copper environment to create distilled materials. This process delicately breaks down the plant matter, producing highly concentrated aromatic oils and waters.

Accommodation

Stay at the garden in one of our bespoke cabins , 18th century barn conversions or glamping tents. Music & Medicine: Winter Solstice

On the Winter Solstice tide we’re holding a weekend of music, medicine and making with some wonderful practitioners, musicians and makers.

The sun that nourishes us and brings life will soon be growing again from it’s deepest point of darkness. With this brings a moment rich in symbolism and power. We’re in the longest and darkest of nights - it’s endings and beginnings, gathering and reflecting, illumination and traditionally and ancestrally a time of great celebration!

friday 16th : music & feasting with sam lee

We’re starting on Friday 16th around the fire, gathered and hosting one of our favourite musicians, and incredible song carrier from the British Isles, Sam Lee, for Winter Solstice. Join us for an epic feast around our long tables and settle in to listen to the native folk music that’s woven into our very history.

Saturday 17th : medicine making with charlotte pulver

Join us for a one day immersion learning plant spirit connection practises, alchemy and medicine making with Charlotte Pulver. This is a very special Yule focused Medicine Making Day, working with the Mistletoe plant in discovering its’ incredible healing benefits and ways. This will be a highly informative, transformational and joyous day!

Sunday 18th : Felt Making with Sophie Harrison

Come and learn the ancient craft of Felt making and create your own felted medicine pouch from sheep's wool! Using the wet felting technique to shrink the wool fibers you will learn to felt around a resist to create a wonderful 3D form and make the small wool pouch. We will add simple embroidery on to the pouch while we can set our intention and prayers for what we wish it to hold.

USEFUL INFORMATIOn

Weather permitting, there will be an outdoor fire - you may like to bring something to sit on outside.
Children are very welcome to join, children 12+ will need their own ticket.
Please make sure you bring plenty of warm layers as these events are partly outside.

SAM LEE

Sam is a Mercury Prize nominated folk singer, conservationist, song collector, award winning promoter, broadcaster and activist. He plays a unique role in the British music scene. A highly inventive and original singer, folk song interpreter, a passionate conservationist, committed song collector and a successful creator of live events.

Alongside his organisation The Nest Collective and fellow collaborators Sam has shaken up the live music scene breaking the boundaries between folk and contemporary music and the assumed place and way folksong is heard. He’s injected a renewed passion into this old material, helping to develop its ecosystem by not only inviting in a new listenership but also interrogating what the messages in these old songs hold for us today.

Charlotte pulver

Charlotte is at the heart of things a modern-day alchemist; born into the Pulver lineage of apothecarians.

She has a background in natural healthcare, studying and practising various medical systems of healing for 20+ years and hosts ceremonies and pilgrimages for many years around the world; and helped co-found The Fellowship of the Spring, a group championing water guardianship in the British Isles.
