Music & Medicine: Winter Solstice with Sam Lee

We’re excited to be hosting one of our favourite musicians, and incredible song carrier from the British Isles, Sam Lee, for Winter Solstice. Join us for an epic feast around our long tables and settle in to listen to the native folk music that’s woven into our very history.

Winter Solstice and Yule is a celebration of the return of the light and the welcoming of the suns growing power bringing increased daylight, growth and energy to all life again! During the Winter Solstice tide, we gather together to celebrate, feast and connect on the longest night of the year. This evening will be a true celebration and ode to the wonderful energies of Yule.

Feast with Sarmado Sibley

First we’ll sit around a banquet table for a Yule feast lovingly created by Sarmado Sibley, an experienced chef who’s Michelin training and inspiration from local produce and ancient culinary traditions come together to create a midwinter solstice feast to nourish us on many levels.

Blessing Booth with Charlotte Pulver & our Garden Bar

Alchemist Charlotte Pulver will be here with her blessing booth and our Apothecary bar will be open and serving local mulled ciders, natural wines and Charlotte Pulver’s love potions!

Music with Sam Lee

Sam Lee is an incredible native song carrier from the British Isles. We’re blessed to be joined by him during this time - check him on spotify, or youtube.

Expect a Yule feast, warming fires, good company, music that sings to the soul, joy, laughter and a night to nourish you in the deepest of winter!

USEFUL INFORMATIOn

Weather permitting, there will be an outdoor fire - you may like to bring something to sit on outside.
Children are very welcome to join, children 12+ will need their own ticket.
We will be well and truly in winter for this event, please make sure you bring plenty of warm layers as this event is partly outside.

Myth & Medicine: Yule

This is part of a weekend of events for Yule with Charlotte Pulver holding a medicine making day on Saturday 17th December and a few more workshops to be announced.

SAM LEE

Sam is a Mercury Prize nominated folk singer, conservationist, song collector, award winning promoter, broadcaster and activist. He plays a unique role in the British music scene. A highly inventive and original singer, folk song interpreter, a passionate conservationist, committed song collector and a successful creator of live events.

Alongside his organisation The Nest Collective and fellow collaborators Sam has shaken up the live music scene breaking the boundaries between folk and contemporary music and the assumed place and way folksong is heard. He’s injected a renewed passion into this old material, helping to develop its ecosystem by not only inviting in a new listenership but also interrogating what the messages in these old songs hold for us today.

Charlotte pulver

Charlotte is at the heart of things a modern-day alchemist; born into the Pulver lineage of apothecarians.

She has a background in natural healthcare, studying and practising various medical systems of healing for 20+ years and hosts ceremonies and pilgrimages for many years around the world; and helped co-found The Fellowship of the Spring, a group championing water guardianship in the British Isles.
